Does it cost to receive the directory?

NO! We will send you the directory absolutely free of charge. The cost of the directory is covered by house sitters subscriptions.

What are the benefits for me?

You can relax! You no longer have to worry about leaving your loved (and expensive) home empty and unsecured. You have the convenience of not having to remove all your belongings to rent out your house. If you need to come back earlier or later you have that flexibility. All the things you do around the house are taken care of. Pets are cared for, fed, walked and groomed. The lawns and garden are maintained and the pool is kept clean. All at no cost to you! Who pays the bills? Usually the sitter will pay the day to day bills-phone, gas, electricity etc. However, if the stay is more that one year, the sitter may agree to pay your fixed bills for that period. This may be used as a guide, but the terms of the agreement must be negotiated between the homeowner and the sitter.

Do I need to insure my home and contents?

Yes. Happy House Sitters recommends you insure your house and contents whilst you are away. You should discuss this with your insurance company and let them know that you will have a house sitter looking after, your home and keeping it secure.

Can I ask for a bond?

This is a reasonable request. The amount and where it is deposited, until your return should be negotiated with the house sitter.

What types of people house sit?

The short answer is, anyone can be a house sitter. Sitters can be people moving interstate, people waiting for their house to be renovated, retired people on holidays or professional couples saving for their first home. However, the majority of our sitters tend to be professional couples saving for their first home.

How long is a house sit?

A house sit is for as long as you need the house sitter. However, sits of one month or more are easier to fill.
