People house sit for many reasons. They maybe saving for their own home, having their house renovated, being transferred interstate, not want to be tied to a lease, or they may like to live in many different locations. However, most of our sitters tend to be professionals saving for their first home. How does Happy House Sitters work? The house sitter sends Happy House Sitters their completed application form and their details are added to our list. The sitter's application is matched with home owners looking for sitters in the same area the sitter told us they wish to live. When a match is found the sitter's details are sent to the home owner. It is up to the home owner to contact the sitter. It is very important that you are easy to reach, as many home owners will just ring the next person on the list if they can not contact you. What are the benefits? The general agreement is that the sitter lives in the house RENT FREE. If you are paying $200.00 pw in rent, that's a saving of $10,400.00 pa ! In return the sitter agrees to keep the property secure, clean and tidy, take care of any maintenance i.e. gardens, lawns and any 'home handy work' that may be required as well as care for any pets as if they were the sitters own loved ones. In most cases the sitter agrees to pay for any utilities used. However, this should only be used a guideline and the actual terms must be negotiated between the sitter and the homeowner. The sitter will be sent a copy of their listing, which can be edited free of charge. (You may register in as many location zones as you like, for the one price) Fees are non-refundable, however, your listing is 'Live' for 12 months. It may be 'frozen', 'reactivated' or updated at any time free of charge.
